Venus Envy - the age you're at & four to the floor

Venus Envy was Maura Horan, Alan Murphy, Eugene Ryder and Bella. They released two EPs, this is the first and it's on Hunter S. Records. After the band finished up Alan went on to drum in The Great Western Squares, and Maura released electronic music mostly under the name Americhord. This line up are working together again after a twenty year gap and have just released an album. They are now called Hi Beats Lo, their new recordings are available here.

Tension - I only like you when I'm drunk

Another great Dirt Records release from 1995. Tension was Michael Mullen, Ross Neville and Ger Murphy who had previously been in Wheel and Not Our World. They also released a vinyl EP called "So You Say" which has one extra track that's not on this album. There's also some unreleased tracks on These Auld tapes here and here.

Amusment - and after optimism

Amusement was James Eadie. He was in Into Paradise and then I think at some stage he mixed live sound or played keyboards with The Idiots.

Decal - Ultramack 004

This release was one of the first times I became aware of people making electronic music in Dublin. Decal was Alan O' Boyle and Dennis McNulty who had already been in a number of indie guitar bands. This was their debut album released on their own ultramack label. They went on to release an impressive catalogue of music on a whole host of other labels including Rotter's Golf Club, Planet Mu, Satamile, Trama Industries, Leaf, Law & Auder, Lo Recordings and D1 Recordings. Electronic music doesn't get much more warm, laid back and blissed out than this.

There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' - tape

This tape was given away free at "There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' which was a tribute to the music of AC/DC that took place in The Funnel on St. Patricks Day 1999. The tracks are original compositions by some of the bands that took part. There are some recordings of the gig but they should only be listened to after a day of drinking.
